WASHINGTON D.C. — The White House Historical Association has made available for purchase in 2018, the Peterboro Easter Basket. The round, hard-bottomed, Peterboro Easter Basket has a metal plaque engraved with words “The White House Historical Association”. The basket is available for $35 on their website here.
The description on the WHHA website reads as follows:
Exclusive to the White House Historical Association, this handcrafted basket is inspired by the annual White House Easter Egg Roll and is made by the Peterboro Basket Company, one of America’s oldest basket making companies, in New Hampshire.
The Town of Peterborough, New Hampshire is steeped in the history of basket making. The roots of the Peterboro Basket Company extend back to 1854, when Amzi Childs wove the first basket on Depot Street. The wood used in your handcrafted basket is Appalachian white ash; the same wood baseball bats are made from.
