Peterboro Traditional Picnic Basket

Basket was everything I expected it to be.

I have been searching for a classic picnic basket and finally found this. I will likely adhere feet to the bottom as I feel that's needed to keep it nice, but otherwise it's pretty perfect. I love the ability to add the custom piece for an anniversary date. It was extremely disappointing, however, to open it and see the red gingham as I wanted the blue as depicted and described. I only just saw the note that they'd replace the blue with red if blue was out of stock unless otherwise requested by the customer. Huge disappointment but my fault.

I was a fellow at MacDowell Colony and used the lunch basket every day. Because of that, I wanted to get one for me and one as a present for my Mom. These baskets are beautiful, but also very large. Make sure to take out the yard stick and visualize the measurements before ordering. I love them though, just a little bigger than I had imagined.

First off, let me say you will NEVER find better customer service any where that beats Peterboro. They helped endlessly with helping me receive the newsletter, fixed the basket & went above & beyond to get it to me in time for a wedding gift. The basket is beautiful and roomy. I got the cherry and it is a lovely choice. The plaque is nicely done. The reason I sent it back was there was a staple sticking out and the handles had not been sanded enough. I called them that day, sent them the pics they requested and they repaired it and I think maybe re-stained some of it. Whatever they did, it is now perfect! I'm not upset about having to send it back for repairs. These things happen and they were so patient and nice about it. I love supporting American businesses so this was a plus. My only complaint involves no hangtag or paperwork about the company included with the purchase. I think, given its history, it would be a nice addition. Also, the packaging could have had some bubble wrap at the bottom to avoid any possible water damage en route to me. Other than that, this is a wonderful company with wonderful products!!! Buy something!

This product is absolutely just what I wanted, only better. The construction is high quality, the room is ample, the liner tasteful and "wipeable". The basket itself exceeds my expectations and I would consider purchasing it even at a much higher price than the bargain I received. Perfect for my family of 4 - we use a picnic basket every single weekend.

I was unsure of how to inscribe the personalize plaque. Using an apostrophe to pluarize our family name didn't seem right. So I looked on this web site for an example, and the plaque shown on the "Our Basic Picnic Basket" photo is incribed "The Johnson's". So I dutifully requested ours be inscribed "The Slattery's". My wife pointed out immediately that what I had requested is the possessive form when referring to a single Slattery. Though I used this site as my guide, the example to which I referred is also gramatically incorrect. I should have requested the incription read "The Slatterys"

Love the basket!! I would recommend it to any and all picnickers!
